37th SSEAYP 2010 - DPR & ASEAN HQ

Day 32 - 25 November 2010

Indonesia was the 4th port-of-call for Fuji Maru during the 37th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP).

In the morning, the Indonesia Contingent hosted the Flag Observance Ceremony at the Pacific Hall.

Fuji Maru berthed at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Indonesia at about 10am, the time when the Administrator and National Leaders were having their Cruise Operating Committee (COC) meeting. The Youth Leaders were also having their Group Leaders meeting. What a pity they couldn't witness the the berthing.

The Reception Committee conducted an orientation for us after lunch. We were supposed to make a Courtesy Call on the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, but it was cancelled.

Catching some rest before the orientation started

Our Discussion Facilitators bade farewell to us as they would be disembarking in Indonesia.

By Solidarity Group (SG), we left for the Courtesy Call to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Our Liaison Officers told us about how an ex-Participating Youth (PY) loved SSEAYP so much that he bidded for the car plate "5534YP".

As a Political Science major, I was beyond excited to know we would be seated in the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) or House of Representatives. This was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We were informed by the Administrative Staff that photography would not be permitted within the premises. However, that fell on deaf ears when everyone started to photograph everyone and everywhere else.

The Minister of Youth and Sports gave a brief report on SSEAYP to the Speaker, before the Speaker addressed us.
