37th SSEAYP 2010 - Off to Tokyo!

Day 1 - 25 October 2010

As early as at 3.50am, Singapore Participating Youths (SPYs) of the 37th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) gathered at Eunos Community Club to prepare for the 53-day cultural exchange journey.

Thanks to Eunos Community Club Management Committee, we were able to store our Contingent Logistics as well as check-in luggages at the Theatrette over the past few days.

138 Professional Movers provided the free transportation of our Logistics to the Airport.

Mother & Brother woke early to go to Airport with me

We reached Changi Airport at about 6am. The guys handled the check-in luggage and Contingent logistics while the ladies managed our hand-carry items.

Thanks Ivy & Wei Kiat for the send-off!

We reached Narita International Airport at about 6pm (Tokyo time - GMT +9). Just as the plane was landing, I saw a "Down with Narita Airport" banner. Thought it interesting and did a search online: http://www.flickr.com/photos/picatoria/3309671778/

At the Arrival hall, we met the Thailand Contingent, who had also just arrived at the Airport.

At the Airport, we were greeted by Yoshi & Take-chan, the Administrative Staff in charge of the Singapore Contingent. A truck drove our Contingent Logistics boxes away while we were ferried by bus to Hotel New Otani.

Bento sets were distributed as our Dinner. This makes the food our first Japanese dish in Japan. At the hotel, Mimi briefed us on Health Promotion & issued us with digital ear thermometers for us to check our temperature daily.

In the evening, we had some free time to travel around Tokyo...

Fellow SPYs were glad to access Internet via Smart phones at Zoka Cafe. But we had to return to the hotel by 11pm for the Roll Call by National Leaders.
