After flag-off, the Minister also embarked on the walk with the participants.
It was great that the weather was conducive for walking the 5km. We then had a family dinner at RSVP by the Park, Park Hotel and watched the movie Eagle Eye. What a fruitful day!
Organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation, the Reebok Pink Ribbon Walk 2008 attracted 2,500 participants which gathered at the Singapore River. The event aims to promote the awareness of breast cancer and the organisers urged females to do their mammograms regularly.
Lin Qiang and I had our event shirts of the wrong size, too small in fact. And we were quite shy to don the pink colour but for the event, for a good cause, we did it anyway. Some participants turned out in creative renditions of pink, with some wearing pink wigs, pink ribbons on shoes, etc.

The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Mr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community development, Youth and Sports, who also donned the pink event shirt. He started his speech by asking participants to raise their hands if we love our Mothers and then proceeded to talk about the importance of screening.
