100th Day

3 July 2009

100 days have passed since Father left us. During this period, some relatives had dreams of Father. Dreams were relatively positive.

Uncle drove Mother and Aunt while I drove brother to Fong Yun Thai Association Columbarium. Along the way, I memorised the driving directions.

It was a quiet morning at the columbarium if not for our chatting. If not for the occasional sound from the sweeping broom, the place would be in total silence.

Uncle specially cooked chicken for Father since he dreamt about Father wanting to eat that. Father's favourite cereal and fruits were all at the altar.

We were apparently not alone. There were so many insects and birds around us. Chinese believe that spirits sometimes come in the form of animals and insects. As we were carrying out our prayers, there was this cricket/grasshopper that stayed right in front of us. It disappeared after we burnt the offerings. Coincidence? Don't think so.

A caterpillar managed to enter the building.

An unknown insect its cocoon upwards to the ceiling.

A rare blue bird was spotted flying around as we burnt the offerings.

I don't understand how some people can be afraid that they might forget their loved ones after they have moved on to another world. I never fail to see Father every night before I sleep. Father is still encouraging and motivating me though in a different way.
