4 December 2020
The ASEAN Responsible & Inclusive Business Forum (RIBF) would be held on 10 December 2020. Held in the midst of the COVID pandemic, the theme of the forum is aptly crafted as "All-In for Digital Transformation: Revolutionising Your Purpose to Profit in the New Norm." The Forum is organised by ASEAN CSR Network, ARAIBA and CEO Asia.
A complimentary networking workshop was extended to participants and I gladly signed up to find out more.
Maarten shared some useful tips on networking, especially useful in virtual meetings.
1) Asking the Right Questions
Refrain from asking questions you don't care about. For instance, asking about some recent news headlines on a topic that you have no interest in would put you in an awkward position when you can't continue the conversation with your newly acquainted counterpart.
On the same note, don't ask a question if you don't know what to do with the answer.
That said, a relatively safe and easy question these days could go in the line of "How are you coping about COVID situation?"
2) Give the Other Person an Easy Way into the Conversation
Ask easy questions that would allow the other person to participate in the conversation.
3) Be Brave about Sharing Yourself
Share something more personal and share genuine experiences which would give others a chance to better remember you.
