37th SSEAYP 2010 - Warm Welcome by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

Day 39 - 2 December 2010

I wouldn't say I had slept. It was more like a short nap. Being away from my laptop and the stable internet access for so long, I must reconcile my relationship with them.

I woke up to the morning of the 39th day of the 37th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) on my familiar bed, already late based on my intended schedule.

Thanks to Priscilla, I had Mortal's contact number.

After sending Khoa (Vietnam) and Sai (Myanmar) to my neighbour and immediate past Chairman of my Residents' Committee, Mr Sawaran Singh PBM, I headed to Tampines to meet my Aunt and her foster daughters.

Hafidz sent a SMS to say that our noticeboard on board required maintenance. So thankful to him for temporarily salvaging the situation for us, in time for the Reunion-on-Board for ex-Participating Youths.

We covered the St Andrew's Cathedral, Supreme Court, Parliament House and Clarke Quay, before bumping into another group of host family.

At Esplanade, there were many white wish balls for us to pen our wishes. These white floating balls would be placed in the waters in front of Esplanade for the New Year Celebration.

Lunch was at Marina Bay Sands!

Next, we headed to Chinatown.

The hot and humid weather tired the ladies and they returned to my Aunt's place. I dragged myself to Bugis for my last chance of shopping for things I wanted to bring on board.

In the evening, Jennifer, Mr Singh and Mr Tan hosted a buffet dinner to show their appreciation for fellow grassroots leaders' support.

Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, MP for Aljunied GRC & Adviser to Eunos Grassroots Organisations also welcomed the 4 Participating Youths to Singapore.

After the party, I grabbed some of the balloons on the stage, to bring on board to Fuji Maru. Also carried some of the Logistic boxes back home and wondered to myself how would I be able to transport so many stuff back to the ship the next day.

It was a long day, but the night seemed short. A date scheduled at night failed to materialise, and I worked late into the night...
