Throwback to 16 December 2015
Day 4
Day 4
It was challenging to adjust to the new hotel, especially after serene nights at Jiufen. There was a commotion in the middle of the night when a group of tourists checked in to neighbouring rooms. Thankfully, that would be the only noisy night.
Breakfast was served buffet-style at Go Sleep Hotel Hankou 高絲旅時尚旅館-漢口館. Amazed by the number of occupants the hotel could accomodate. Had to find seats for breakfast.
Breakfast
Breakfast always a time for last minute planning of the day's itinerary.
After breakfast, we continued to explore the streets near our hotel. We found ourselves at Ximending Cinema Street (西門町電影街), where workers were setting up and getting ready for the official launch of the Star Wars film that would be taking place later in the evening.
The first trip for the day was to the Maokong Gondola 貓空纜車, via subway.
The gondola can bring us to places like Taipei Zoo, other than Maokong

Signage for something just 2 metres away?
We decided to head straight to Maokong terminal station, a 15 to 20 minutes ride on the Maokong. We can either take the normal cabin or the one with glass flooring (or what they called, Crystal Cabin). Since we are tourists and the queue for the Crystal Cabin was short, we opted for it.

The "Mao" in Maokong means cat in Chinese
"Cat's got nothing to do" Cafe - what a name!
We had lunch at Zhengda Tea House (正大休閒茶園). Pricy menu but interesting cuisine cooked with tea leaves. Tasty too.
We were not too sure what we could see in Maokong, so we just picked one direction and started walking.

A tea factory that bore the same name as my late Father
Just had to get that Matcha ice-cream. Nice black cat cookie too!
We didn't stay at Maokong for long. Took a bus down to the Taipei Zoo Station.
At the subway
Next stop: Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館)
We were just in time for the last changing of guards parade. The changing of guards takes place hourly throughout the day.
Sun Yat-sen's Three Principles of the People:
Principle of Minzu (Nationalism)
Principle of Minquan (Democracy)
Principle of Minsheng (Welfare)
Constitution of the Republic of China
The museum was worth visiting. Refreshed and topped up our knowledge on Taiwan's history.
